Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a type of energy therapy which originated in Japan and has been around for centuries. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”.
Reiki is not affiliated with any kind of religion or religious practice but is a subtle form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force energy.
Ki (or energy) should be strong and free flowing in everyone, but when Ki becomes weak or blocked
it could lead to physical or emotional imbalance.
Practitioners
Practitioners of Reiki believe that everyone can connect with their own healing energy (ki) and strengthen it to help themselves heal and others. Reiki practitioners must complete a series of courses in order to provide Reiki treatments.
Sessions
A Reiki session can help ease tension, stress and may help the body to facilitate an environment for physical, mental and emotional healing.
A session is usually relaxing and pleasant and typically lasts from 60 to 90 minutes.
The client typically lays on a massage table and remains fully clothed throughout the session and can be provided with hands on or off depending on the client’s preference.
You may experience a tingling sensation, heat or temperature fluctuations, or nothing at all. Most clients report feeling extremely calm and relaxed and sometimes fall asleep in a session.
Reiki is not meant to be a medical treatment on its own but has been used in a variety of medical settings such as hospitals to ease pain, anxiety and suffering.
