About Jenny Forbes

Background
Jenny Forbes grew up in an Air Force family and had the opportunity to see many different parts of the country and the world. This expanded perspective gave her a respect and appreciation for many different cultures and traditions.
Education
Jenny attended The University of Texas at Austin where, in 1992, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She received a Master of Arts in Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2000. She is a certified Yoga instructor.
Experience
Jenny Forbes has worked in many different treatment settings including emergency rooms, inpatient admissions, acute and residential facilities, jail diversion, community mental health programs.
She is experienced in treating people with:

- Schizophrenia
- Anxiety Disorders
- Substance Use Disorders
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Her specialty is treating people who have experienced medical trauma such as cancer or other life threatening illnesses.

Jenny believes that collaboration between therapist and client is an essential part of achieving desired outcomes.
Treatment Approach
Jenny assists individuals and families with learning about, and coping with, a variety of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. She is passionate about providing trauma-informed, person-centered care. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) can have a negative impact on the whole person.
She employs techniques from the Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered schools of thought and specialize in Cognitive Processing Therapy to assist individuals in their recovery from traumatic experiences. Her interest lies in helping people heal and reach personal goals.
Hobbies
Jenny Forbes is an avid Longhorn football fan and most Saturdays in the fall, you will find her watching the game with friends and family.
