Personal Story
As a 4 year breast cancer survivor living with side effects of cancer treatment (Cancer Related Fatigue) and chronic pain (Lymphedema), she understands how trauma can impact day to day functioning. The emotional/physical side effects from medical intervention can have a significantly negative impact on our lives as well as those who love us.
It is common to have strong emotions arise with trauma exposure and we may find our support system not able to help as we would like. Talking to someone who has “been there” helps.
Beliefs
She has long held the belief that traditional medical care though prolongs lives, does not typically address quality of life or mental health issues that can arise from medical treatment and procedures. There are many complementary and alternative healing modalities that can help address these such as acupuncture, yoga, and energy healing such as Reiki.
Colleen credits these modalities in helping her body, mind, and heart heal after cancer and has received additional training to become a Reiki Master.
Treatment Approach
She provides holistic mental health treatment in a person-centered, trauma-informed environment of care and understands the significant impact that medical trauma can have on both the body and the mind. She understands the significant impact the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) have on the body and mind.
She does not believe in a one size fits all method of treatment and believes you are the expert when it comes to your body and how it responds to different types of interventions.
Colleen Lee provides outpatient psychiatric care for the adult (18-65 years) population of San Antonio diagnosed with various psychotic, mood, and anxiety disorders.
She offers psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and brief psychotherapy. In order to provide the utmost quality care, Colleen invests TIME in your appointments. Initial appointments are 1 ½ hours in length and follow up appointments are 30 minutes.
She believes that high quality care involves collaboration and communication with the other professionals involved in your treatment.
